Showa Retro Zelkova Japanese Chest of Drawers, Vintage Furniture, Japanese Dresser

This is a Japanese tansu chest made of zelkova veneer with a hidden storage compartment.

The interior of the drawers shows signs of use, and there are minor scratches on the exterior (Images 15-19), but it is in good condition with no significant damage.

There is a hidden storage compartment at the back of the upper left drawer (Image 7). It can be used to store cash, bank books, seals, etc.

The top section has a pair of cabinet doors, and there are 6 drawers of various sizes below. The interior of the drawers is made of paulownia wood, which is resistant to moisture.

This is a well-constructed piece of furniture where closing one drawer causes others to pop out slightly. The upper corners feature a rounded arare-gumi (Japanese dovetail) joinery, and the lower section also uses traditional arare-gumi joinery. The zelkova wood grain is beautiful.
